The sphere of a deep blue that captures the full moon in the night sky above the Shinshu Mountains, which seems to be reflected in the pattern of sun's rays.

The golden second hand slides with the characteristic fluidity of the Spring Drive, specifically a hand-wound 9R31 caliber, with a load reserve of 72 hours. The minute and second hands are curved by hand, improves the readability of the exact time.

The craftsmen at Shinshu Watch Studio create a fine, classic design that captures the spirit of the original 44GS.

About Grand Seiko:

Grand Seiko was born in 1960 from the challenge of creating a watch that was as precise, durable, easy to use and beautiful, as much as humanly possible.

The improvements and advances of Seiko's mechanisms as well as watchmaking, in the 60s, allow the team of designers and engineers of Grand Seiko to create the "ideal" mechanical watch. The Grand Seiko team receives over the years recognitions not only in Japan but also in Geneva thanks to the numerous contributions in raising the world standards of mechanical watchmaking. The accuracy level of Grand Seiko watches is ± 2 seconds a day or ± 1 minute a month, an ultra precision called "Grand Seiko Very Fine Adjusted."

In 1988, the first quartz watch of Grand Seiko was born, the 95GS, with its accuracy of ± 10 seconds per year as a result of the secret of manufacture of each of its components in its own manufacture. In the search for the "ideal" quartz will arise the creation in 1993 of the Caliber 9F83 that was perfected.

In the 90s, new challenges arise and the mechanical movement 9S. Grand Seiko presents 50 models to the COSC, "Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres", is created, and they all comply with it. 

They go further by overcoming the reserves of standard marching, alloys, manufacturing techniques.

From the "ideal" watch practically achieved, now it is intended to create the "eternal" watch and after 20 years of research and more than 600 prototypes, the Spring Drive was born in 1999, based on the principle that  “time is continuous and silent”, and keeps its promise. Spring Drive offers the best of both worlds. A watch driven by the user's movement, but with a level of precision far superior to that achievable with any other mechanical technology, and with a power reserve of 72 hours. It unites 28 years of advances in mechanics and electronics, crafts and technology. To this will be added advances such as the GMT, the most accurate luxury chronograph in the world arises the Hi-Beat caliber gives 10 alternations per second, the mechanical Hi-Beat 36,000 with GMT function... and the evolution continues.
