Since 1904 the Oris house has been manufacturing durable watches that provide a lifetime of pleasure to their owners. Paul Cattin and Georges Christian founded Oris in the Swiss town of Hölstein (1 June 1904).

The company opens an assembly plant and a second factory in the nearby town of Holderbank (1906).

The success of Oris allows several factories to open in different cities, until 1929. After the death of Georges Christian, Oscar Herzog, his brother-in-law, became CEO. Oris opens its own dial factory in Biel/Bienne, where it produces its own watch exhausts thanks to multiple expert watchmakers and giving equal opportunities to both men and women.

In 1938, Oris produced its first pilot watch with a Pointer Calendar function, the Big Crown.

Since 1945, Oris has received more than 200 awards for precision. It is in 1952 that Oris launches its first automatic watch with power reserve indicator, the High Precision Oris Calibre 601. In 1966 he introduced his advances; in 1970 Oris joined the ASUAG group, and in 1982 Portmann and Herzog led the management acquisition and formed Oris SA, an independent and free company. Oris abandons quartz and produces exclusively mechanical watches. In the 90s, it coined its motto "High Mech" to communicate the quality and integrity of its mechanical movements manufactured in Switzerland that in 2002 will reflect with the Red Rotor as a registered trademark of Oris.

Its calibers, designs and advances are perfected to this day, as with the automatic Calibre 400: high-level antimagnetism, five-day power reserve and 10-year warranty. Oris continues to develop in each of multiple collections.
