Features of Seiko SPB509J1 watch:
The whale is an eternal symbol of adventure and the fearless pursuit of the unknown, embodying the Prospex spirit for 60 years.
PROSPEX – Keep Going Forward.
Seiko celebrates the 60th anniversary of the creation of the first Japanese diver's watch in 1965, evolving to meet the demands of professional divers around the world.
The Seiko SPB509J1 combines its unique technology and expertise.
The wave emblem, the symbol of the Seiko diver's watch, is a testament to high reliability and exceptional technology and is engraved on the casebacks of all Seiko diver's watches.
It features a deep blue dial with a striking wave pattern inspired by Hokusai's famous wave. The unidirectional rotating bezel has a blue ceramic inlay. The additional GMT hands are gold-colored, matching the 24-hour scale on the bezel and optimizing the readability of the second time zone.
The updated clasp allows for adjustment and can be easily lengthened or shortened in six 2.5 mm increments by pressing the side buttons. This ensures a comfortable fit, adapting to changes in wrist size caused by pressure during diving or ambient temperature.
About Seiko:
Follow your dreams and keep moving aheadis the philosophy of Seiko's founder: Kintaro Hattori.
Fascinated with Swiss watchmaking, he dreams of being a high-end watchmaker and at just 18 years old creates a watch repair shop in his own home in Kyobashi (Ginza district). Four years later he founded the company K Hattori for repairs and sale of second-hand watches. In 1892, he created the firm Seikosha ("house of precision") manufacturing his own wall clocks and created the first pocket watch, called "Time Keeper" in 1895 or the first Japanese-made alarm clock. In 1913 he created the first wristwatch called "Laurel". His dream of being a true watchmaker is a reality. But the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 destroyed everything. Time doesn't stop, it advances. Hattori started all over again, a year later he was remaking his wristwatch this time under the Seiko brand. He rebuilt the tower clock in Ginza, in 1932 symbolizing the rebirth of Seiko and Tokyo's own city.
Keep moving forward, step by step. Seiko has evolved into technology and the science applied to watchmaking. In 1969, Astron was the first quartz watch. In the 1970s, Seiko is looking for alternatives to quartz with solar technology and later will be the kinetic watch, direct drive movement, chronograph, perpetual calendar, GMT, Astron GPS Solar (2012), Diver's watches and their diving watches. In the late 1990s, they created the Grand Seiko collection with large mechanical calibers such as the 9S and soon after perfection with the Spring Drive system coupled with all these advances and more.
"Be always one step ahead of others" Kintaro Hattori, founder of Seiko
