Seiko's history began in 1881, when 21-year-old Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in Ginza to repair and sell watches. In 1892, he opened a factory called Seikosha to produce his own watches. Twenty years later, when pocket watches were still the standard, he experimented with wristwatches, cutting-edge technology at the time.
  In 1913 Seiko successfully produced Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, and since then he has created many innovative wristwatches.

In 2023, Seiko celebrates the 110th anniversary of this model. The SFJ009P1 is designed to be a travel companion, a reliable partner throughout life's journey.
